As you can tell from the above picture, I’ve had some amazing adventures this summer! I’ve traveled a lot and visited my pet pals Sylvia, Mia, and Lowell. We played in waterfalls, hiked trails, met horses, snoozed on couches, chased squirrels.

Whenever we travel by car, I ride on the floor in the backseat. My momma always puts a big blankie down there for me and I tuck away until we get to the destination. (I’m not a big fan of car rides…) She stops every two hours so I can talk a walk, do my business, sniff some grass, and then pours me some fresh water into my travel bowl. Then we’re back in the car and I try to ignore it all. But visiting my pooch pals is ALWAYS worth it!

The Rules: One (1) winner will be chosen randomly from the qualified entrants and will receive a Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul goody bag (approximate retail value of $20).  To qualify for entry, you must follow the entry rules as outlined in this article. This giveaway is open to residents of the USA only. Please enter only once; duplicate entries will be detected and discarded. Entry deadline is September 6, 2010 at midnight USA ET. The winner will be chosen via Random.org and will be announced here on AmazingWoo.com and contacted via email. *Please note that I will never share your email address! My family and I are heading to Martha’s Vineyard for vacation next week! We are all prepared! My owners bought my brother, Jack and foster sister, Summer antlerz for our car ride. We also got doggie bug spray/sunscreen, life jackets, anew frisbee and travel bowls for the occasion!! We even got a special device that let’s us sit in the backseat (although I think I should sit in the front seat)! We are all soooo excited!!!

I took my hedgehog with me to the top of the Arch in St. Louis! Since she’s so small and friendly, she’s very easy to tote around comfortably! I keep her in a large pouch (it’s about 10″ long, 6″ tall, and expands up to 8″ deep if she moves around) that has an across the body sling. It’s a messenger style with lots of pockets outside for her toys, some kibble/snacks, an extra snuggle blanket, napkins for poop cleanup and a tiny jar lid that works splendidly for dumping water from my Sigg (aluminum) water bottle.

Inside her bag, I add one of her favorite “sleeping bags”. I use children’s polar fleece hats for her sleeping bags. They are perfectly sized! She’s currently sporting a Hello Kitty one! I also leave the top portion of the bag unzipped so that I can quickly check on her.

She seemed to enjoy the tram ride to the top of the arch, as did I. If I had known how much better hedgies are for pets than hamsters (I’m not bashing hamsters by any means- I love them!)- but a well-socialized hedgie rarely bites, she loves getting held by kids, and she never bites!

And now, thanks to Woo & the Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul team for hosting this contest!

Me and my two chihuahuas took a road trip up the east coast this summer. We stopped and visited family all along the way so the trip took about two weeks. I love driving, and my Chi’s love snuggling up together in their seat-belt harness carriers. I pack 1 jug of water for me; and another for the Chi’s That way there is always plenty of liquid to keep us all hydrated.

Oh and the three of us have a routine- I almost always stop for a small bag of French Fries from McDonald’s so they get a special treat. When we need a longer break, I usually stop at a Cracker Barrell. Most of them will let you order a To-Go order at the Hostess stand, then you give them your cell number and they will call or text you when your order is ready. That way while my food is getting cooked, I can go walk the dogs and stretch my legs.

I can’t wait to read the rest of the comments as they come in. I love hearing about other people’s pet travel adventures!

What a wonderful giveaway! My dog is a great dane so he doesn’t typically come along when we travel, but we have a wonderful dog sitting place right near us. Oberon (my Dane) loves going to the doggie hotel! They have swimming pools in the turnout areas, AC, big rooms that look more like horse stalls and the place is always exceptionally clean. Plus the staff is super knowledgeable.

I will admit that it took me a long time to research and find a dog hotel/kennel that was up to my standards. I visited at least 10 before I found my current one. It’s a little farther to drive to pick them up & drop them up, but it’s SO WORTH IT!!

We take our two dogs with us when we travel. We have a corgie mixed and a beagle. They are very good friends. They sit in between us and seem to love the attention they receive on the very long trip. They are part of our family so it feels great to be able to take them along. We stop a few times so they can stretch a bit.
Can’t image leaving them home! So glad to have them as part of the family.

I went to Disney this summer. I couldn’t take my dog with me so she got to go visit her grandmother for a week. She has a Doberman so my dog had a buddy to play with. They are so cute.

We haven’t taken any big trips this summer, but have gone camping with our new puppy. We make sure to make lots of stops when in the car and always bring along her bed, treats and favorite toys.

We are a toy chihuahua and a minature pincher (spelling?). Our grandmom comes to take care of us when our family has to travel…..most of the time. But when we have to go with our family out on the road, they stop often for us and give us just as much time as we need. One of us likes to sleep, the other one has to see every single thing that’s out there in the world. People drive by and wave! Our family NEVER leaves us in the car while they go in to a convenience store….they keep our safety and comfort in mind at all times. We are lucky doggies.

Little dog, Big city
Oliver our 1 year old Boston Terrier travel to NYC this summer. The trip was exciting for him for this was his first ride on a plane. He traveled in a special carrier which allowed him inside the plane with his mom and dad. The flight went great and he enjoyed the ride. Once in NYC he settled in real fast.Elevator rides and walks to Central Park were everyday highlights. He learned to just walk and go with the flow of the crowd. Oliver had his picture taken in Times Square along with many other famous NY attractions. His least favorite part was the grates from the subway on the sidewalks, he quickly learned to go around them. The taxi rides were definately faster than “owners” driving. The plane ride home was great, and Oliver slept the entire ride. Oliver made this trip very special.

My adventure was when my mommy was on vacation and rescued me from the pound. I was stuck in a very tiny cage by myself (my fur mommy was two cages down) and my new mommy spotted my 6 clawed paws and had to get a closer look at me. It was love at first site. I got to leave with her that day, and the next day we came home and I have been here living it up ever since.

I had a great trip to the beach with my mom and dad! I’ve only been one other time and I really loved it! Last time I was afraid of the waves, but this time I thought they were really fun! It was something called “low tide”, according to my mom. I guess thats why there was lots of beach to play on and lots of little pools to splash in. And I got to meet a bunch of other furry friends!! I wish I could live at the beach!!!

My name is Charlie and I am a 14 year old West Highland White Terrier. I move very slowly these days and long walks are out of the question. I do love to go for rides in the car. When my owners ask me if I want to go for a “ride” I get an extra spring in my step. Everyone thinks I am so cute when they see me in the car with my owners.

I’m Radar, a pit bull rescue that is still pretty young in my years. It’s been exceptionally hot here lately, so we’ve been taking our walks later in the days…usually when it just gets dark. During the summer, I love swimming in rivers. If you go for a long trip make sure your owner brings a portable dog bowl and lots of water. I get thirsty quick, especially when it’s this hot!

The last time I traveled with a cat was bringing home my kitten Kali, who I found on the side of the road during the trip. She rode in a carrier that I purchased on the way, and I stopped often to feed her. I had her little pan in a plastic garbage bag, and when I’d set her down in there, she’d go if she needed to. She only cried if she was hungry or had to potty. I don’t know how she’d be to travel with two years later!

My name is Patches. I am a 9 year old cocker spaniel and I love to go anywhere with my people. This summer we went camping at the lake. I got to swim and sleep in the tent with my family. My mom and dad made sure I had plenty of water and we had to stop a few times so I could stretch my legs. I had a great time!

My owners took me to Lake Tahoe 3 times this summer. Of course they brought my life jacket and kong. It was awsome, we went swimming, running and than ate lunch on the beach. If I have one tip it’s to teach your humans to drink out of the lake. Who brings water in small bottle to a lake?

We take the ferrets with us when we take roadtrips, however I have a very hard time finding hotels that allow them in, so a note to you all… call ahead or hide them with a blanket or you might get stuck sleeping in the car!!

WE DROVE CROSS COUNTRY WITH OUR DOG WHEN WE MOVED AND I DIDNT LIKE THE UHUAL TRUCK AT ALL. I REFUSE TO RIDE IN THE UHUAL TRUCK BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT FOR DOGS AT ALL.

me and my doggies took a road trip this summer to Virginia, from Florida! We hated the drive of course, but we have lots of friends and family up there, and they have a doggy water oark up there, its expensive, but my doggies love it!!

We alway stop at the same rest stop on the MA turnpike and no longer just call it a rest stop, it is “Droopy’s Rest Stop”, where we stop, walk, drink a bowl of water and pee.

Well, I travel with my dog anytime I can! I always take him if I have to pick up an item at the store (only for a few minutes of course!) and then I take him for a walk around the parking lot or down the block, his fave! He loves to sit up front with me and hopefully I can get him a doggie seat cause he needs one! This summer I took him to the beach and he even got into the waves a bit :D I always make sure to bring him some water which he usually just drinks out of my hand cause he’s not too big…
