The Amazing Woo - dog watching television

Me watching the pre-Derby coverage!

My mom is a huge horsie fan… she started riding when she was only 4 years old. And every year she watches the Kentucky Derby, picks her favorites and cheers on the horses running across the screen. I think it’s pretty fun to watch too! Those big four-leggers can MOVE!

Mom & I are gonna be cheering for Conveyance, Paddy O’Prado, Dublin and Super Saver. She has her reasons… I just wanna see how muddy they all get!

This morning mom and I experienced some new action with our baby Parrotlets… One of the birdies has now left the nest box! Mom says he is now called a “fledgling” – but I have no idea what that means.

Anyhow here are some pictures – look how much they’ve grown!

Here is the rest of crew!

And here is the baby male “fledgling” hanging out on the bottom of the cage. Mom has now covered the wire grate with paper to make it easier for him to crawl around, and she even added some stuffed toys. I thought I was the only one who liked stuffed toys in this house!

Mom also took a video of the baby and she’s working on it so everyone can see the lil dude in action. Woot!

Seven of the eight eggs laid by Triton and Io were fertile. All seven baby Parrotlets are doing wonderfully and we think they are all going to be blues!

You can see how much size difference there is between the oldest and youngest babies in this picture. The older ones are even getting their baby feathers! In my woo-ey opinion, they are finally starting to look like baby birds rather than something an elephant would sneeze outta it’s trunk!

Mom says I also should thank Mrs. Deb from Moore’s of Dalriada Aviary. She’s helped mom and me a whole bunch with guidance, care and answering endless questions. If you’re looking for a special feathered friend as a pet, Mrs. Deb is the person to chat with!

My momma snuck a pic of our Parrotlet babies while Io (aka Mom-birdie) was out taking a potty break.

If you look carefully at the pile of pinkness, you can pick out 5 babies… (clicky the picture to view a bigger version!)

Baby P'let birdy update: Pile o' pinkness!

The five babies are named: Atlas, Miranda, Oberon, Callisto, and Janus. Of course right now there’s no tellin’ em apart. It’s just “hey you, pinky! hey you, brain!”

Am I the only one who thinks they kinda look like earthworms? Mom says they’re cute, but I’m not so sure. Maybe my mom has lost her meatballs, err… I mean marbles!

5 baby parrotlet birdies are meeping in the nest box! My mom and I very quietly listened last night as the newest one hatched. We think we even heard the shell cracking a bit!

She’s hoping mom will hop off the nest for a few minutes so we can snap a quick picture of the pink non-furballs.

Woo hoo!
